1.1) What to expect from this Course

Lesson Summary

Welcome! I'm excited to get started with you on drafting and simulating an underwire bra in CLO!

The intent of this course is twofold,

  1. Understand the fundamentals of how an underwire pattern is drafted which will help you make fit and design modifications.
  2. Understand how to use both the 2D and 3D tools in CLO to create a prototype of your garment which you can use to test fit, design and create a refined visual presentation.

Weather you start with a pattern you have drafted or a pattern you have imported, you can take advantage of the tools in CLO to refine your design before going on to physically testing the garment.

Student Expectations

As this is an advanced course, you should have a solid foundation of CLO and its functionalities. You will be expected to be familiar with many of the concepts I introduced in my Clo3D Foundations course;

  • How to modify your avatar
  • How to import your pattern
  • Common shortcuts
  • How to navigate the UI i.e. know where tools are found and how to switch between them

Disclaimer; There is no one size fits all approach to pattern drafting, weather you start with a draft from measurements or the block I provide, you will need do your own trial and error because every body is different, every style is different and different materials will all affect the end result. Ultimately a good fitting garment reflects a pattern that reflects the body it was made for and the materials it was made from. When used effectively Clo is a powerful tool which can assist with the development process allowing you to do much of this trial and error virtually before going on to a physical garment.
